Outside Plant Technicians Job Description:

Emerald Broadband is a public benefit company based in Eugene Oregon and serving the surrounding Lane County areas with fiber internet and fixed wireless. Our company is small but strong, and we seek a motivated team player with strong communication skills to join us for this important role. The Outside Plant Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining the fixed wireless, copper, and fiber optic infrastructure and facilities, customer premise equipment, as well as other Emerald Broadband products and services. This position works closely with contractors and other departments within EBB to ensure the best quality service to our customers.
Essential Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, and test outside plant infrastructure and facilities in a variety of work conditions using various outside plant tools
• Design and prepare path from distribution point to customer premise. Assist construction crew in aerial and underground infrastructure as necessary.
• Pull and splice main and distribution lines.

• Assist construction crew with placing cable, pedestals, and other equipment.

• Accurately locate and mark underground services.
• Under limited supervision, perform installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential and business customers.
• Record complete and accurate work orders, logs, and other job required reports.
• Maintain plant facilities, company vehicles, and company equipment. Communicate changes or issues to Outside Plant Supervisors/Managers.
• Perform job duties within Company health and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience in the telecommunications industry preferred.
• Ability to read/comprehend designs and other engineering documentation.

• Ability to operate construction equipment as needed.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
• Valid Driver’s license for daily travel necessary to perform job duties.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires daily travel within Lane County to perform job duties.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $34.00 per hour
